You can watch our instructional video or follow the simple instructions outlined below on the steps needed for burying your loved one's remains at sea.

1. Go to US Postal service sight to order box to ship cremated remains. The US Postal service provides shipping containers with instructions for free. https://store.usps.com/store/product/shipping-supplies/cremated-remains-kit-1-P_BOX_CREKIT1
2. Gather and prepare the needed documents: (a. Deceased's death certificate; b. California application for spreading of human remains - make three copies) Download the California application here.
3. Fill out information on our Registration and Honorarium page.
4. Choose which service and pay the honorarium fee online.
5. Ship remains to 925 Bennett Way Templeton, CA 93465 - include the original death certificate and the four copies of the California application for spreading of human remains (remains cannot be buried at sea without these documents).
6. Remains should be shipped in an enclosed container such as a disposable urn. You can also ship in a water soluble biodegradable urn that must dissolve within 4 hours. Water soluble biodegradable urns will be used to commit remains at sea. Please know that all non-water soluble urns and containers cannot be returned to the owner.
7. Include in the shipping a check or money order for the right amount (see Reservation page for honorarium amount) made out to Celebration of Life.

What Happens After Burial?

We will send your loved-one's original death certificate back to you.

You will receive a memorial certificate stating the date, time, and latitude & longitude coordinates of burial.

You will receive a copy of the California Application to bury at sea, and any information regarding the requested religious ceremony performed by Chaplain Jeff.

Reverend Jeff Saylor holds a Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary, and has been a minister, missionary, and chaplain for over thirty years. Serving as a clinical chaplain inspired Reverend Jeff to start "Celebration of Life" encompassing his two passions: ministering to the broken-hearted, and being at sea.
